Chapter 2 Data sources

2.1 Data for patterns of climate change

  1. HadCRUT, which is a global temperature dataset, providing gridded temperature anomalies across the world as well as averages for the hemispheres and the globe as a whole.

  2. The GISS Surface Temperature Analysis ver. 4 (GISTEMP v4) is an estimate of global surface temperature change.

  3. The WorldData, which provides the pattern of temperature change by by continents from 1950 to 2020.

  4. THE NACR data, which provides high resolution gridded temperature data for world map plotting

2.2 Data for causes of climate change

  1. Orbital Data contains Milankovitch orbital data of Earth.

  2. Globally averaged marine surface monthly mean mole fraction of gas from NOAA, including data of CO\(_2\), CH\(_4\), N\(_2\)O, SF\(_6\).

  3. Globally averaged marine surface annual mean mole fraction of gas from NOAA, including data of CO\(_2\), CH\(_4\), N\(_2\)O, SF\(_6\).

  4. Globally averaged marine surface annual mean growth rates of gas from NOAA, including data of CO\(_2\), CH\(_4\), N\(_2\)O, SF\(_6\).

2.3 Data for effects of climate change

  1. The three data sets about ice sheet mass in Antarctic, ice sheet mass in Greenland and Global sea level change are from NASA_EARTH_DATA.

  2. Storm Events data collected by the National Weather Service records the extreme storm events from 1950 to 2021.
